Week 10’s action saw Aries the Jaguars keep up with first place team Las Panteras with victories over Spitfires and Bombers respectively.
Spitfires vs Aries
New team Spitfires, hungry for their first win, hosted reigning league champions Aries on Diamond One. Sporting a packed roster and two new promising additions they began the game by limiting Aries to three runs in the top of the first.
Spitfires failed to score any runs of their own in both the first and second innings and going into the bottom of the third faced a seven run deficit. Not to be deterred, Spitfires scored a run with Gemma Harris being plated by Gary Matthews thanks to two consecutive second-base hits.
That would be it for the Spitfires in the game, however, as their only other runs came from their four rookies runs.
With Aries scoring another 20 runs over the last four innings, including 10 in the 7th, the scoreboard would show a rather one-sided score, one that would betray the competitive and determined spirit that the Spitfires played with the whole game.
If they continue to play in this manner, it’s a matter of when, not if, they get their first win.

Jaguars vs Bombers
Third place team Jaguars took on the Bombers in a thrilling game that, despite only last four innings, saw nearly 50 runs scored.
The home team got off to a good start, limiting the Bombers to two runs and scoring 11 in reply. Despite the Bombers scoring six runs in the top of the second, the Jaguars had over double the runs the away team had in the bottom of the second, with a 19-8 lead.
The Bombers were not done, though, and posted five runs in the top of the third inning, reducing the Jaguar’s lead to six.
The comeback ended there as the Jaguars increased their lead to 11 runs in reply, shut out the Bombers in the top of the fourth inning and scored 10 further runs in the bottom of the fourth to end the game by mercy rule.
