The 2021 season wrapped up on Thursday night and what a great return to softball is was.
After missing an entire season in 2020 due to the pandemic and the ongoing issues that surround it, there was always some doubt as to whether we would get any kind of season and what such a season would look like. Thankfully, other than a few individual isolations and of course adherence to the new guidelines laid out by BSUK, we had a full (dare I say normal?) season that beyond the first two weeks of the season and a heavy downpour in week 4 was largely unaffected by the weather as well.
Naturally, not everyone that played in 2019 played this season and as a result we went down from 6 teams to 5, however a good level of softball was played throughout the season, despite many players not having played any version of the sport for the best part of 18 months.
Congratulations to Jaguars for their title win in 2021 after good consistent play throughout the season. Las Panteras, after a slightly slower start than they would have liked, finished second. After their strong start to the season, Aries finished third and 2019 new team Spitfires continue to look impressive and finished the season in 4th place. New for 2021, the Bodgers finished off their season with a well deserved win to end their season on a high.
Full 2021 league results can be found here. Thank you as ever to the Team Captains for compiling and sending through the batting stats each week, which can be found here.
