Week Four Recap: Dodgers get first win, Aries’ streak to two

The Dodgers secured their first win of the season against the Spitfires on Thursday night. Their game on Diamond Two was a close one throughout with only 4 runs being the deciding margin.

The Spitfires showed once again that they are not in the League this year to simply make up the numbers with a valiant performance. They scored consistently in most innings, however came up short at the end.

The Dodgers, who, with their victory, collected a full house of outcomes only three games into the season, scored in only four of the game’s innings but when they did, they scored big.

This proved to be the deciding factor in the game and gives the home team a three point cushion in fourth place in the League.

On Diamond One Aries hosted the Bombers who were looking for their first win of the season. However, unlike the game over on Diamond Two, this game was a short, somewhat one-sided contest.

Aries picked up where they left off in their last game batting-wise by scoring early and scoring big. Batting round the order in two of the four innings played they were led by vice-captain Kimbo Hendry and her 8 RBIs, a record for RBIs in a single game this season.

For the Bombers, however, standout performances from left-sided outfielders (and MVPs) Stuart Minton and Emma Basketter ensured they didn’t miss fellow outfielder Seyi Awofadeju too much who was forced to play First Base due to injury.

The Bombers got 8 runs on the board early, however they couldn’t continue scoring at this pace and the game ended by mercy rule in the bottom of the fourth inning.
