Week One saw big wins for both Panthers club teams Las Panteras and Jaguars.
There were parallels in both games as each team scored 25 runs, both games ended by mercy rule in the 5th inning and their opponents, the Spitfires and Dodgers respectively, scored 6 and 7 runs each.
For the losing teams, the Spitfires were playing their first ever game in the Swindon League having formed earlier in the spring. With a number or rookies in their side they will look to grow as a team as the season goes on. The Dodgers likewise will look to improve with a game against the Bombers in Week Two.
Week Two saw the first draw of the early season as the Bombers and Dodgers drew 9-9. Some big innings early on got the Dodgers out to a comfortable lead, with the score at the bottom of the 6th inning being 9-4 to the Dodgers. A brilliant comeback in the 7th inning by the home team saw the Bombers score 5 runs – enough to tie the game up, but not enough to secure the win.
The other game of the week was a Panther club derby with the Jaguars hosting Las Panteras. A close first two innings saw the score at 3-1 to the away team, however from the 3rd inning onwards excellent defense by Las Panteras keep the Jaguars off the board while scoring steadily themselves to win by mercy rule 16-1 in the 6th inning.
